Gilbertville: a National Register Historic District
The village of Gilbertville is such a unique place--an intact "company town" -- that the Massachusetts Historical Commission back in the 1980s, encouraged the Hardwick Historical Commission to do the necessary research to get the village onto the National Register as a Historic District.
In 1991 the task was completed and now with over 130 buildings included it is an astounding achievement.
